Selectman’s Corner
An Ending With Confidence for the Future
By Matt Riiska
Thinking back over the past eight years, time sometimes seemed to fly by, and at times it seemed like eternity. The one thing I can say is that I worked with some of the most kind, generous and dedicated people. The hours spent in too many meetings, working to get us through some of the most bizarre disasters, and dealing with far too many major projects, there were always those that made the difference. You know who you are. With that said, I am leaving office knowing that these dedicated individuals will continue performing their duties. I am also confident that the next administration will do a fine job.
In many of my monthly Selectman’s Corners there was always one thing that I continued to push, other than driving slower—volunteerism. Serving your community is hard, but the rewards definitely outweigh the time you will put into it. In these turbulent political times, the one thing we all need to remember, especially on the local level, is that we are all trying to make our town better. No matter what your schedule is, please try to find some time to give back to our community.
Thank you to all of you for everything.
And one last time, please drive slower and enjoy our beautiful town and everything it has to offer.
