A string of car break-ins and thefts that ensnared a Norfolk resident remains under active investigation, according to Trooper Ryan Cooper, who serves as the resident state trooper in Salisbury. The three thefts occurred in Salisbury and neighboring towns on Dec. 31, 2025, and appear to be part of a “much wider, coordinated” effort, according to Cooper. The alleged perpetrators used crowbars to break into locked vehicles and then used stolen identification in an unsuccessful effort to withdraw cash from multiple branches of a local bank.
