Snow in the Forecast, a New Bus and Funding for Energy Audits

‘Tis the season, and I am not referring to the holidays. Our public works crew has been out four times already this year, to make sure our roads are safe for travel. As in the past, we continue to work at applying the correct amount of salt and sand depending on the situation. With salt at $73 per ton and knowing the damage it causes to vehicles, roads, bridges, the environment and the public works trucks, who take the brunt of it, it only makes sense to use salt wisely. So, I only have one thing to say, “SLOW DOWN”. We will focus our applications to the areas that need it the most so please drive carefully.

The Norfolk bus has arrived and will go into service the first week of December. There will be a learning curve as we start, but with your cooperation, we will make it work. The bus is for all to use. We will have it available for medical appointments first, but it will also be for shopping and social events as well as for excursions. The Norfolk Energy Committee is working on the installation of a solar field on the town landfill site. Currently, an application has been submitted to Eversource for review. The committee is also discussing making home energy audits available to Norfolk residents, with the possibility of providing funding to assist homeowners in making necessary repairs.
