Dorothy Allen Smith, 84, passed away in May in her home at Meadowbrook Senior Housing. She had been a Norfolk resident for 14 years moving here from Newport News VA. A memorial service will be held at the Church of Christ at 1 pm June 13, which was also Dorothy’s birthday.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Sunshine Club, which benefits Meadowbrook residents.

Flynn Preece, four-year-old grandson of Al Preece of East Street North, won first prize in the Northwest Rod & Gun Club’s annual fishing derby, for catching a 2 pound, 14 1/2 inch smallmouth bass.  A total of 82 children attended the event at the club’s pond in North Canaan.
