Babies and Bears on the Green

For the second Family Friendly Friday Fun Night, the Norfolk Land Trust sponsored a talk on a topic of increasing interest to everyone: bears. Certified Wildlife Master Conservationist Paul Colburn delighted a group of kids and their parents with his presentation on bears in Connecticut—their habitat, diet, behavior, and reproduction habits. He laid out a whole bearskin on a table for children to admire and touch. They got to see life-sized reproductions of bear paws—those of a young bear and an adult. He talked about the increasing bear population in the Northwest Corner, instructed listeners about how to react to bears they might see, and answered a host of questions.
