On Dec. 21, 2021, the Connecticut State Bond Commission approved a $1.8 million grant for the Foundation for Norfolk Living’s Haystack Woods affordable housing project on Old Colony Road. A week before, the project had received its final approval from the Norfolk Planning and Zoning Commission.

The Foundation for Norfolk Living has also applied for a Community Development Block Grant (DBDG) for the site. These grants are federal money that is distributed to towns by the state’s Department of Housing. Kate Johnson, president of the board of the foundation, is having ongoing discussions with DOH to work out the funding details.
