Facebook Post Leads to Arrest in Norfolk Break-in

News Brief

Police on June 8 arrested a man walking on Route 272 in Norfolk fitting the description of a person who broke into the South Norfolk home of Mike and Donna Adams earlier that morning. The Adams were awakened around 2 a.m. by sounds in their kitchen. Mike Adams confronted an intruder, managing to run him off the property. They then called the police, who found that the man had used a crowbar and hammer to break open a kitchen window. Police dogs were employed to track the man’s scent, but the trail was lost in the woods.

A Ring camera that the Adams had installed outside their door did capture a video of the intruder. Donna Adams quickly posted the clear image of the man to Northwest Corner Chatter, a regional Facebook page. Their next-door neighbor immediately recognized it as the man who had peered into his window that same night after attempting to break into his garage. His dogs had scared the man off. At about 9 a.m., another person who had seen the image on Facebook and was traveling on Route 272 noticed a man fitting the description walking along the roadway. He notified police, who arrested Daryl Fellows, 33, without incident. Fellows, of Hillsdale, N.Y., was arraigned June 9 in Torrington Superior Court on charges of first-degree burglary and home invasion
