Thank you, WIN!

Having enjoyed past Weekend In Norfolk (WIN) activities, we looked forward to more on Saturday, Aug. 6. We started at the Connecticut-Asia Cultural Center, where a Master Calligrapher created a stunning “100 Years of Happy Marriage” artwork for us. It was auspicious timing because we later made our way to the village green, where Tom Hlas, local artist and justice of the peace, officiated at our marriage vow renewal ceremony.

Shortly beforehand, Sue Frisch, who we are told is one of the forces behind WIN, arrived with freshly cut gorgeous flowers from her garden—both a bouquet for the “bride” and more flowers to decorate the arch. She also later sent us photos, which we didn’t realize she had taken.

Mike Isabell, a photographer and filmmaker from Beacon, N.Y., had been hired by WIN to capture the various activities, which to our delightful surprise included our ceremony. We look forward to perhaps catching a glimpse of us in a WIN montage, which will hopefully encourage others to do the same next year.

The marriage vow renewal ceremony far exceeded our expectations, thanks to all involved. The care, time and thought given by Tom, Sue and Mike touched our hearts.

Thank you for continuing to make Norfolk a very special place indeed.
