The Norfolk Sewer District: Past & Present
On Thursday, Nov. 17, at 6 p.m., Norfolk Sewer District Superintendent Bill Hester will give a presentation at the Norfolk Hub on the sewer district’s history, provide an update on the two-year relining project and explain how we can all keep the sewer district operating most efficiently. Art Exhibit at the Library: Catharine Moore
Catharine Moore will exhibit her watercolors at the Norfolk Library through the month of November. Working in watercolor for its organic flow and surprises offered, Moore finds creative inspiration in the beauty, light and joy present in the natural world. Please join us for a reception for the artist on Sunday, Nov. 6, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Mindfulness Series with Miranda Lee
Mindfulness practitioner Miranda Lee continues her classes in November with the theme of gratitude. Sponsored by the Norfolk Library, this course is offered via Zoom from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. on Fridays. Anyone can join at any time. Foot Stompin’ for the Food Pantry
Come kick up your heels to help raise money for the Norfolk Food Pantry. The local band, The Grantville Dawgs will be playing in the Community Space at Battell Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12. Some line dance instruction will be provided, as well as Saturday Night Special Chili. Suggested donation $10 per person. BYOB. All proceeds will go to the Food Pantry. French New Wave Film Series with Diego Ongaro at the Library
Please join us for the screening of two French New Wave films in the library. The films will be introduced by French writer/director/editor Diego Ongaro. Shred Event
On Saturday, Nov. 5, there will be a free drive-through shred event from 9 a.m. to noon in the town hall parking lot. Please bring only paper-based material with small fasteners. Three-ring binders, newspapers, electronic media, and plastic or metal objects are not acceptable.
Enchanted Forest Walk
On Saturday, Nov. 12, from 1 to 3 p.m., please join the Firefly Fairy from the Sova Dance and Puppet Theater to celebrate the changing of the seasons in the Great Mountain Forest. Miss Eileen, the Norfolk Library, and Great Mountain Forest invite folks of all ages to wander through the woods and find cozy nooks to build faerie huts. A pleasant fire and warming cider will be offered at the end of our stroll. Magical costumes are welcome. Lisa Hamilton and Aaron Wexler Exhibit at the Hub
“Color in the Box,” a new exhibit on display at the Norfolk Hub, Nov. 2- Dec. 20 showcases Lisa Hamilton and Aaron Wexler’s work, featuring primarily works on paper that explore visual play and flexible thinking through use of color, shape and line. Music Among Neighbors
The Norfolk Library will begin a music series this month featuring local musicians. The duo Jeremy Koch and Rob Segal will play at the library on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 5 p.m. Koch, who plays fingerstyle guitar, has been an instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter for sixty years. Books & Boots Hike
The Norfolk Library and the Norfolk Land Trust invite you to attend a Books & Boots program on Sunday, Nov. 20, at 2 p.m. Read Sermons in Stone: The Stone Walls of New England & New York by Susan Allport and illustrated by David Howell, then lace up your boots as we hike Bald Mountain to discuss under the leadership of Hartley Mead. Norfolk Library Carol Sing
Welcome the holidays at the Norfolk Library Annual Carol Sing on Saturday., Nov. 26, at 5 p.m. Refreshments will be served, followed by the lighting of the Christmas tree on the green and a visit by Santa Claus on the fire engine. Face masks will be required, and the library will provide special holiday-themed masks.
