History of Maritime Knitting

Rewilding New England Forests

Aton Forest President Billy Gridley will moderate a panel discussion at the Hub on “Forever Wild: Rewilding New England” on Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 6 p.m. Panelists will be Jon Leibowitz of the Northeast Wilderness Trust and Prof. Susan Masino. Please register at norfolkfoundation.net/hub-events.

Classic Crawford Film Series

Robert Dance, author of a new book on Joan Crawford, will introduce two classic Crawford films to be shown on Fridays at 7 p.m. at the Norfolk Library: “Sudden Fear” on Nov. 10 and “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane” on Dec. 1. Register at norfolklibrary.org or call 860-542-5075.

Norfolk Ambulance Demonstration

On Saturday, Nov. 11, from 4 to 6 p.m., the Norfolk Lion’s Club Ambulance will give a demonstration at the Hub of a mock ambulance call. EMTs will assess, treat and transport a (mock) patient, teach basic first aid and CPR skills and explain what to expect with a 911 call. Please register at norfolkfoundation.net.

Jazz at the Library

Killers of the Flower Moon

Between 1918 and 1931, 60 members of the Osage tribe were murdered in Oklahoma. David Grann’s book “Killers of the Flower Moon” details the FBI investigation. Stargazing

Bundle up and stargaze with GMF and the library on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. All ages are welcome to use the telescopes and chart the skies. Meet at the GMF East Gate. Please register on the Norfolk Library website. Poor sky conditions will cancel event.

Life Stories with Laurie Lisle

Thinking about writing family stories or memories of life experiences? On Thursday, Nov. 16, at 5 p.m., at the Norfolk Library, Laurie Lisle will share insights about writing a memoir. Hong Kong Foreign Correspondents 

On Sunday, Nov. 19, at 4 p.m., at the Norfolk Library, Mark Erder and Keith B. Richburg will discuss their experiences as foreign correspondents in Hong Kong, following the screening of the BBC documentary film “Of All the Gin Joints.” produced by Erder. Blood Pressure Check Drop-In

Stop by the Hub anytime between 10:30 and 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22 to have your blood pressure checked by the nurses from Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Litchfield County. The check includes blood pressure, heart rate and pulse oximetry analysis.

Land Trust Hike

The Norfolk Land Trust will host its annual Black Friday hike at Pine Mountain Preserve on Friday, Nov. 24, at 1 p.m. Meet at the trailhead kiosk. Inclement weather cancels the hike. For more information, email norfolklandtrustct@gmail.org.

Mindfulness Series with Miranda Lee

Annual Library Carol Sing

Welcome the holidays at the Norfolk Library Annual Carol Sing on Saturday, Nov. 25, at 5 pm. Refreshments will be served, followed by the lighting of the tree on the green and a visit by Santa Claus on the fire engine.

Indoor Holiday Market

The Norfolk Farmers Market’s Holiday Market will be held at Battell Chapel on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be food and artisan vendors, poinsettia plants for sale, live music and a catered lunch to benefit the food pantry.
