Norfolk Remembers: Ross Kingland Burke, 1933-2023

Ross Kingsland Burke, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend of many, passed away peacefully on Dec. 2, 2023, at the age of 90.

Born on June 24, 1933, in Hartford and raised in Glastonbury, Ross was the son of Dudley Kingsland Burke and Helene Hale Burke.

Ross was happily married to Joyce, with whom he shared a life full of love and joy. Together, they raised six children in Norfolk: Robin (Kerry) Yuran, April (Daniel) Ayers, Mark (Liane) Burke, Matthew (Ingrid) Burke, Luke Burke and Spring Burke, and were blessed with 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Ross was a skilled Master Carpenter and founder of the Kingsland Company, a family business that stands as a legacy to his entrepreneurial spirit and expertise.

Ross’s annual family trips to Cape Cod were filled with laughter, stories and memorable moments. These cherished times are ingrained in the hearts of his family.

Ross’s commitment as a Master Mason was a significant aspect of his life, which embodied its principles with honor.

His life was a testament to hard work, craftsmanship and dedication. As they bid him farewell, his family honors and celebrates a life rich in experiences and love.A private Masonic burial will be held on his birthday, St. John’s Day. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
