Library Art Exhibit: Linda Filley, “In These Shoes”
Linda Filley has been making her paper creations for over 15 years. Her Paper Shoes are a transformation of everyday materials. Cardboard, brown paper, wallpaper, old maps, and sheet music, sometimes new and sometimes vintage. A self-taught artist who was born in Glasgow, Scotland and grew up in Montreal, Canada, Linda currently lives in the Hudson Valley. Please join us for a reception for the artist on Sunday, March 3, from 4 to 6 p.m.

DarkSky International Talk
On Thursday, March 7,  from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., join us at the Norfolk Hub for an illuminating talk by Leo Smith, Executive Director of DarkSky International. Learn about the health benefits for birds, bugs, bats and people. Sponsored by the Norfolk Conservation Commission.

Mindfulness Series with Miranda Lee
Mindfulness practitioner Miranda Lee continues her Mindfulness classes in March with the theme “Self-Compassion.” Sponsored by the Norfolk Library, this course is offered via Zoom from 9:15- to 10 a.m. on Fridays. Palm Sunday Weekend Bake Sale
On Saturday and Sunday, March 23 and 24, the Catholic Women’s Club of the Immaculate Conception Church will be hosting a Bake Sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come join us in Klauer Hall of the church, at 4 North St., Norfolk.

Film Series at the Library
Come to the Norfolk Library for some winter cheer with the screening of these classic films: Singin’ in the Rain on Friday, March 1, and The Thin Man on Friday, March 8. The films start at 7 p.m. and will be introduced by film historian Robert Dance. Stay tuned for our next film series: Visions of Europe, Fridays beginning March 29. Film director Diego Ongaro will introduce three under-the-radar contemporary films with unique voices, highlighting the creative richness and vitality of the European film landscape. Haystack Book Talk at the Library
On Saturday, March 16, at 4:30 p.m., Haystack Book Talks presents Robert Dance in conversation with Hugh Eakin, the author of “Picasso’s War: How Modern Art Came to America.” As late as the 1920s, modern art was still scorned by American collectors and museums. Artists like Pablo Picasso were renowned in Europe but disdained in the United States. Eakin tells the story of how modern art came to be embraced by American culture, and how paintings that we now revere as masterpieces first found their places on museum walls. St. Patrick’s Kid’s Fun Day 
On Saturday, March 16 from 2 to 3:30 p.m., kids ages five through 12 are welcome to stop in the Norfolk Hub to have some green treats and make a St. Patrick’s Day craft.

St. Patrick’s Day at the Library: The Step Crew
Join us at the Norfolk Library on Sunday, March 17, for our annual Irish concert featuring The Step Crew. This cast of virtuosic step dancers and three world-class fiddlers backed by an amazing five-piece ensemble comprises some of the most talented and respected musicians in the Celtic music scene today. The company is led by Cara Butler, best known as The Chieftains’ top Irish dancer for the last three decades, and Jon and Nathan Pilatzke, Canada’s leading Ottawa Valley step dancers. The performance will begin at 5:30 pm, but doors will open at 4:45 pm. Puppet Show: My Night at the Planetarium
On Saturday, March 23, at 3 p.m., the Norfolk Library is pleased to present best-selling children’s book author Innosanto Nagara’s true story of art and social protest in a dynamic pop-up puppet show. Created and performed by fellow artist/activist Tanya Nixon-Silberg, the show transports audiences to Jakarta in the 1970s, where seven-year-old Inno learns firsthand how a play has the power to spark a resistance movement. The Reptile Nook at the Library
On Wednesday, March 27, at 3:45 p.m., the Reptile Nook is bringing several scaly friends to our March Corner Club. The Reptile Nook is dedicated to teaching people of all ages about reptiles and amphibians. For the safety of the animals and audience, only the Reptile Nook staff are permitted to hold the animals. Some animals can be pet during programs, depending on the animal’s mood.
