As anyone traveling through Norfolk on Route 44 can attest, cooler weather has not slowed the K2 Infrastructure Group. Working under the supervision of the Norfolk Sewer District, the contractor has focused on relocating sewer lines to the opposite side of Route 44 in anticipation of the extensive retaining wall replacement project to come. The next step will be installing additional erosion control barriers to supplement the blocks and barriers already in place, according to Amy E. Hare, a project engineer for the state Department of Transportation. She said the extensive tree removal, necessary for rebuilding the damaged walls, will pose a negligible erosion risk once the protective measures have been taken.
