Wayne Jenkins to Exhibit Paintings at Library
A self-taught oil painter of landscape and wildlife, Wayne Jenkins returns to the Norfolk Library with an exhibition of paintings that reflect his love of the natural world. Beginning with hunting and fishing as a young man and later raising cattle, he became fascinated by forms and colors found in the natural world. His career at Great Mountain Forest gave him ample opportunity to observe nature in the wild. A reception will be held on Sunday, Dec. 8 from 4 to 6 p.m., hosted by the Library Associates.
Classic Bette Davis Film Series

Breakfast with Santa
The Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department will be holding its 32nd annual “Breakfast with Santa” on Dec. 7 from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Battell Chapel. There is no charge for children 5 and under. Tickets for older children are $8; adults are $13, and seniors are $10. Contact Todd at 860-542-5654 with questions.
Farmers and Artisans Holiday Market
As soon as Santa wraps up breakfast, come to Battell Chapel for a special edition of the Norfolk Farmers Market. It will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Join the experts at Great Mountain Forest who bring all the trimmings and lots of expertise to ensure that you will have fun—and come away with a wreath that only you could make. Kid’s movie at The Hub

Deck the Halls in Colebrook
The Colebrook Historical Society will host a holiday open House on Sunday, Dec. 8 from 3 to 5 p.m., culminating in a carol sing and tree lighting on the Green. This year’s theme is “Deck the Halls” and there will be ample opportunity to get something special at the silent auction that will culminate at the Colebrook Holiday Fair on Saturday, Dec. 14. The fair, also at the historical society, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon. The Colebrook Historical Society and Museum is in Colebrook Center at the intersection of Routes 183 and 182A. Breakfast for Dinner? You bet!
Join the Grinch for green pancakes and hot chocolate on Wednesday, Dec. 11, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Botelle cafeteria. Proceeds from this special Dr. Seussian adventure will help defray the costs of the annual trip made by 5th and 6th Grade students. Bring a camera! Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Gingerbread House Contest for Teens
The Norfolk Library Teen Advisory Council invites all teens to the Library on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 6 p.m. to watch classic holiday films and decorate gingerbread houses and sugar cookies. The gingerbread houses will be on display for the community to vote for the three most creative.
Children’s Film Festival at the Library
During the holiday vacation week, two series of prize-winning short films will be shown at the Norfolk Library. Enjoy a wide variety of animated and live action favorite films from across the globe that will delight young and old alike. First Foot with the Land Trust
Join Hartley Mead and the Norfolk Land Trust for an off-trail hike at Ells Crane on Wednesday, Jan. 1 at 9 a.m. This hike is a full exploration of the woods and requires hardiness, hiking boots and a sense of adventure. Meet at the trailhead entrance, located on Route 44 East, about a third of a mile from the Green. Children under 12 are welcome with an accompanying adult. Mindfulness with Miranda Lee
Learn how to use mindfulness tools in your daily life as Miranda Lee continues her classes on Saturdays from 9:15 to 10 a.m. December’s theme is “Understanding Our Nervous System for Healing.” Sponsored by the Library, this course is offered via Zoom.
