Library Fills Kids’ Summer With Color
By Andra Moss
The Norfolk Library has selected “Color Our World” as the theme for its 2025 Summer Reading Program. The program will run for seven weeks on Monday evenings, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., from June 16 to July 28.
The program will explore design, art and science, encouraging young readers to connect with the many ways these concepts enrich health, minds and spirits.
It all kicks off on Monday, June 16, at 5:30 p.m., with the book “Science Heroes: Adventures of the Missing Color.” Families are encouraged to bring a blanket to spread out on the library lawn to enjoy the program—and the delicious treat that will be served beforehand.
The library has designed special summer reading incentives every summer since 1997 to help children in kindergarten through sixth grade maintain and enhance their literacy skills and foster a love of reading.
This season’s whimsical reading logs have been specially crafted by artist Erika Crofut. Every child will receive one to help them follow through on each reading challenge.
The summer programs are free and open to all Norfolk-area families.
