Botelle Principal Lauren Valentino presented Luke Dubrule with the Adele Winn Service Award at the June 10 meeting of the Board of Education. The award is named for a former teacher and given each year by the Adele Winn Endowment Fund. Valentino described Dubrule, who was joined by his family, as a student who was always willing to “go the extra mile.” Also at the meeting, Bea Tirrell presented the Satherlie Humanitarian Award to Elana Hunt Procopio. The award, sponsored by the Norfolk Children’s Foundation, recognizes a sixth-grade student who “exemplifies kindness and helpfulness toward others.” Tirrell, herself a former Botelle teacher, described Procopio as someone who consistently demonstrated “empathy toward others.”
