Christmas Angels

In South Norfolk, the spirit of Christmas was alive and well this year with the children of the Norfolk Child Care Center. Under the guidance of the center’s director, Donna Adams, each of the youngsters chose to buy a gift for a less fortunate child from a list supplied by Rev. Erick Olsen. After doing the shopping themselves on a group field trip, the day care children lovingly wrapped each gift, affixing a beautiful bow to each.

A very excited and eager group of these caring children carried the presents to the Norfolk church and helped Rev. Olsen separate them into groups by town so that other volunteers could personally deliver them to the recipients. “It was exhilarating and touching to see how excited the children were about giving to others,” says Adams. “Not one child asked to keep the gift for themselves. They were so proud to be able to help someone who needed a new toy.”

Adams and her staff are planning other service projects for the day care children as they continue their lessons on sharing and giving.
