Norfolk Joins Wreaths across America
Volunteers from the Lions Club—led by Sandy Evans, Grant Mudge and Bill Brodnitzki—placed wreaths on the graves of 250 veterans at five Norfolk cemeteries as part of a nation-wide observance called Wreaths Across America. Communities large and small gathered at noon on Dec. 13, 2025, to mark the occasion. The Rev. Erick Olsen, himself a veteran, offered an invocation at St. Mary’s Cemetery during Norfolk’s observance. He reflected on the meaning of the day, noting that other volunteers had placed a similar wreath on his father’s grave in Massachusetts. After the program, the last 12 wreaths were put in place. A community-wide fundraising effort made the wreath laying possible.
