As of April 1, Town Hall will operate on a new schedule: it will be open for extended hours on Thursdays and closed on Fridays. The change was approved unanimously at the March 4 meeting of the Board of Selectmen.

Except by appointment, Town Hall will be open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Offices will remain open until 6 p.m. on Thursdays but be closed on Fridays. Until now, the Office of the Selectman has been open on Friday mornings.

Come summer, the hours will shift. During June, July and August, the Office of the Town Clerk will be open on Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon to make it easier for residents to pick up stickers for Tobey Pond and to conduct other business.

“We will see what happens,” said First Selectman Henry Tirrell. Regardless of the posted hours, Tirrell expects to be in the office. “It gives me a good opportunity to get work done,’’ he said.
