Sarah Nolen captivated audiences at the Norfolk Library with her engaging puppet performance, although young Hiwa, visiting from New York, appeared nonplussed from his perch on the stage. Nolen delighted both children and adults during the Greenwoods Puppet Festival last month. Through her creativity, storytelling and skillful puppetry, Nolen transformed the stage into a lively world filled with memorable characters and imaginative adventures. An American puppeteer, filmmaker, and educator, Nolen is recognized for her innovative contributions to contemporary puppetry. Back for a third time under the leadership of Eileen Fitzgibbons, the Norfolk Library’s events coordinator and children’s librarian, the festival celebrated the art of puppetry and provided family-friendly entertainment for the community.
