LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Heartfelt Thanks

Several months ago, I fell from a ladder onto a concrete floor, landing headfirst. What fol-owed was a long and difficult hospital stay and a recovery that at times seemed uncertain. The medical details are not nearly as important as what happened next. What I experienced was nothing short of a medical miracle, made possible not only by skilled healthcare professionals but by the extraordinary kindness of family, friends, clients and the Norfolk community.

My son, Benjamin, and his wife, Sarah, became tireless advocates for me throughout my hospitalization and recovery. They were by my side every step of the way: asking questions, coordinating care, offering encouragement and helping me navigate a challenging journey.

Then the community stepped in. Friends and neighbors delivered meals, drove me to medical appointments and physical therapy sessions, and later helped me get back to everyday tasks such as grocery shopping. Others helped keep up with Ginger Creek accounts and business matters while I focused on healing. Several clients even contacted me to make sure outstanding bills were paid, despite knowing I was unable to work. I was also deeply touched to learn that I had been on the prayer list at the Church of Christ ever since the accident. Knowing that so many people were thinking of me and praying for my recovery was both humbling and uplifting.

Physical therapy has helped me regain strength and address balance issues caused by the accident. Recovery continues, but I am grateful to say that I am back at Ginger Creek Nursery. These days I serve more as a supervisor and consultant than the fellow doing all the physical labor, but I am thankful to be back doing what I love.

This experience has strengthened my faith in the goodness of people. When I needed help most, the Norfolk community answered in ways I will never forget. My family and I are profoundly grateful for every meal, every ride, every prayer, every phone call and every act of kindness. Thank you, Norfolk, for bringing me back from the brink and reminding me what community truly means.–Nash Pradhan
