Rebecca Bluebell Ward at the Library
Botanical paintings and drawings by Rebecca Bluebell Ward will be on display at the Norfolk Library for the month of October in an exhibition entitled “flos.wild.” A reception for the artist will be held on Sunday, Oct. 4, from 4 to 6 p.m., hosted by the Library Associates.
Mindset Tools with Miranda Lee

“Dancers” Comes to Sculpture Trail
A sculpture by Ann Curtiss Scoville, entitled “Dancers,” will be installed on the Norfolk Sculpture Trail on town land behind Norfolk Library on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 2 p.m., in a ceremony hosted by the Norfolk Community Association
Medicare/Medicaid Changes
A representative from the Western Connecticut Area Agency on Aging will present on the changes to Medicare and Medicaid insurance for the upcoming year on Monday, Oct. 5, at 11 a.m., at Town Hall.
Free Flu Shots and Covid Vaccines
On Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., flu shots will be offered at Town Hall for anyone three years of age and older. Covid-19 vaccines and pneumonia shots will also be available. Call the social services department at 860-542-2887 to pre-register (required).
How Forests Support Pollinators
The Norfolk Nature Alliance will host a free Zoom webinar on Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the Hub featuring Dr. Doug Tallamy, a leading entomologist and authority on pollination ecology. Learn how forests support pollinators throughout their life cycles and how wilderness conservation can help address pollinator declines.
Sound Bath/Yoga Nidra at Battell Chapel
Lisa Pepino and Nancy Monk will lead a program of yoga nidra and sound healing on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 5 p.m., in the Battell Chapel. The suggested donation is $20.
Banned Books Discussion at the Library
In response to a surge in book challenges in libraries, schools and bookstores, Banned Books Week (Oct. 4-10) was created by the American Library Association in 1982 to advocate against censorship. Ministry of Bread at UCC
The Ministry of Bread is an informal group of bread enthusiasts that meets monthly to share, practice and enjoy the craft of bread making. The group is open to all; the next baking session will be on Thursday, Oct. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Battell Chapel kitchen.
Lunch & Learn for Seniors
The Norfolk Library will host a lunch and learn program for seniors on Tuesday, Oct. 13, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A light lunch will be served, and Laurie Foulke-Green will share discoveries in her research as a family historian. Building Resilient Forests
Great Mountain Forest, the Yale Building Lab, GOA Architecture and graduate students from the Yale School of Architecture will host a free program at the Norfolk Library on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 4 to 6 p.m., exploring how architects and foresters are collaborating to pioneer regenerative construction technologies that minimize environmental impact while supporting healthy, resilient forests. The annual bocce tournament has been moved to Sunday, Oct. 18, at 3 p.m., hosted by Ten Station Place, LLC. Pizza truck and beverages for players and fans!
Scarecrows in City Meadow
Gather on Robertson Plaza on Saturday, Oct.17, from noon to 3 p.m. for a fun afternoon celebrating fall in Norfolk. There will be scarecrows, music, pumpkin painting, cider donuts and more!
8th Annual Tour de Forest

Ragtime at the Library with Tony Kieraldo
World-renowned pianist and composer Tony Kieraldo will perform at the Norfolk Library on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 5 p.m. Based in Hudson, N.Y., Kieraldo has performed at Royal Albert Hall, the Sydney Opera House, the London Palladium, Town Hall and Tanglewood among many other venues. Robin Crofut-Brittingham Book Signing
Award-winning visual artist and writer Robin Crofut-Brittingham’s work explores the intersection of real and imagined worlds, inspired by nature. On Sunday, Oct. 25, at 3 p.m., she will speak about “The Illuminated Book of Blooms,” the second (following “The Illuminated Book of Birds”) in a series of nature books she has written and illustrated. Sinking City, Rising Seas with May Joseph
At 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29, Professor May Joseph will offer a glimpse into storm surge in New York and how climate redesign is grappling with the impending challenges of sinking land and rising seas. Norfolk Food Pantry & Clothes Closet
The Food Pantry and Clothes Closet at UCC Norfolk are open Tuesday-Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Serving residents of: Norfolk, Canaan, Falls Village, Colebrook, Winsted and Winchester.
