Get Ready for the Holidays

admin November 5, 2026 2 min read

Christmas and Hanukka may seem a long way off, but the days are growing shorter and the time to bring out the holiday lights is upon us. Norfolk’s festive calendar is already filling up so get ready for carol singing, holiday popups and the annual tree lighting on the Village Green.

Everything seems to start on Thanksgiving weekend. Aija, run by Norfolk resident Bella Erder, will have a pop-up shop in the Norfolk Hub on Nov. 27-29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Erder plans to stock an array of affordable gems, from scarves and accessories to jewelry and items to adorn the tabletop. Her gift wrapping makes life easy.

On Saturday, Nov. 28, carolers can begin at the Norfolk Library with the 5 p.m. carol sing. There will be light refreshments offered. Carolers can then adjourn to the Village Green for the lighting of the town tree and a visit from Santa Claus, who will arrive in style thanks to the Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department. Hot cocoa may be involved.

The Norfolk Hub is sponsoring its second annual Holiday Stroll on Saturday, Dec. 5 from noon to 8 p.m. Participants will include local businesses and artisans. Dress warmly for Robertson Plaza and Station Place.

In a more serious vein, the Norfolk Lions Club is once again participating in the national “Wreaths Across America” initiative on Dec. 18. Wreaths will be placed on four cemeteries in Norfolk—Grantville, South Norfolk, Pond Town and St. Mary’s. The cost of each wreath is $17, and checks can be dropped off at the National Iron Bank or mailed to the Lions Club at Box 399.
