Curb Your Dog

I just read the article in the March issue about “close encounters with moose,” and I am very disappointed that neither the author nor Jody Bronson said anything about keeping your dogs on leash. Under CT statute 22-358, any dog found pursuing a deer (and (I would hope moose) can be killed by law enforcement officials and the owner fined and/or imprisoned. The dogs, people and moose were all very lucky that none were hurt and that the dogs did not become lost.

Pay It Forward

Let’s face it, flip-flop season is short, while boot-wearing, long-john season seems endless in the Ice Box of Connecticut. This year, storms came at us with a vengeance, not giving us the time to clean up from one storm before the next arrived.

Late one afternoon, as rain was beginning to mist on newly fallen snow, I ventured out with shovel in hand to take on the “cement” at the end of my driveway. Just as I was beginning to think this undertaking would be too much for me, a Norfolk resident in his plow truck arrived. And for no particular reason other than what I believe was pure kindness, this Norfolkian made two wonderful swipes with his plow and my overwhelming task had vanished!

His selfless act of kindness has inspired me. Not only will “I pay it forward” myself, I challenge all Norfolk residents to do something nice for someone, for no particular reason other than the true kindness that lives within us all.
