Bridge at the Library

The Norfolk Library continues Fireside Fridays in February with a focus on bridge. The group meets from 2 to 4 p.m. every Friday. Prior registration (with a partner) is required. Contact Sally Estock at sallyestock@gmail.com if you are interested in playing.

Toddler Playgroup

Balls & Tots now meets every Tuesday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the gym at Botelle School.  Contact Ann Decerbo with any questions, 860-542-5473.

GMF Lecture

The Forest Lyceum Series continues on Saturday, February 2 at 4 p.m. with a book talk, “Hidden in Plain Sight: A Deep Traveler Explores Connecticut” by essayist, poet and lecturer David K. Leff at the D.M. Hunt Library, 63 Main Street, Falls Village. Reception at 4:00 p.m., book talk begins promptly at 4:30 p.m. Reservations are required. Please call the D. M. Fitness Classes at Church of Christ

Burn some calories at a free Zumba class on Sunday, February 3 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. In exchange, please bring donations of non-perishable food for the Church of Christ’s food pantry. Ongoing fitness classes at the church include Dance Fitness with Kristin Mudge on Mondays at 5:30 p.m. (free the first Monday of the month in exchange for food donations), Body Blast with Bill Couch on Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m., Yoga with Heather Coon on Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. and Zumba with Christine Royer on Saturdays at 9 a.m. Call 860-542-5721 for more information.

Youth Art Show

“Youthful Impressions: An Art Show by the Children of Norfolk” will have an opening reception on Sunday, February 3 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Norfolk Library. Come celebrate our children’s creativity before celebrating the Super Bowl.

Norfolk Curling Club Demonstrations

Norfolk Curling Club members will show off their curling skills during the annual Alpine Ski Jump Weekend in Salisbury. A 100-foot rink has been built for them on the grounds of the Salisbury Winter Sports Association’s Satre Hill. Demonstrations will be held Saturday, February 9 from noon to 6 p.m. and again on Sunday, February 10 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Land Trust Annual Meeting

The Norfolk Land Trust’s annual meeting will be held on Saturday, February 16 at 3 p.m. at the library. Attendees will enjoy a screening of the documentary, “Queen of the Sun”, which covers the plight of honeybees around the world. Call the library to reserve a seat, 860-542-5075.

Deadline for Arts Scholarships

Completed applications for the Battell Arts Foundation Scholarships are due Monday, April 1. These scholarships are awarded twice a year to school-age children from Norfolk and Colebrook for the purpose of enhancing their education in the visual and performing arts.
