Norfolk Library Loses Executive Director

Interim Director Named

An interim director of the Norfolk Library, Ann Havemeyer, above, has been named by the library’s board of directors to replace Luisa Sabin-Kildiss, who served as executive director from January 2013 until last month.

While the library’s president, Robert Dance, would not comment on the reasons for Sabin-Kildiss’s departure, he praised her technical skills, which led during her tenure to an upgraded wifi network, iPad tablets at the circulation desk, a revamped website and new audiovisual equipment.

Havemeyer, who has a doctorate in history from Yale University, first joined the Library Associates in the 1980s and was a co-founder, with “Miss Eileen” Fitzgibbons and Jude Mead, of the children’s Corner Club. Recently she has been working for the library as its curator of historical collections.

In her first message to the library community, she writes that she will be at the library on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, adding, “Please stop in and say hi.”
