On July 14, a first-time ever event will be held in Norfolk that will have residents reminiscing and harking back to the days of their youth.
The First Annual Classic Community Classic Car Show will be sponsored by the ArtsWave Committee of the Norfolk Economic Development Commission (EDC), and promises nostalgic moments for anyone over the age of 20.
The show, to be held in Station Place, is intended to enable Norfolk car buffs to display their hot rods and other classic or antique vehicles. National Iron Bank, as key sponsor, along with other area businesses, will present trophies to the top ten vehicles in the show. A raffle, a food vendor, and a disc jockey providing music during the show are among the many activities being planned.

All proceeds from Classic Community Classic Cars will benefit the Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department (NVFD). “We are very pleased to be involved in the planning of the car show,” says NVFD Fundraising Coordinator Chelsea Bottum, “and we thank the ArtsWave committee for choosing the fire department to receive the proceeds.”
ArtsWave chairman Marie Lowe says that the object of the EDC in sponsoring the show is to attract people to Norfolk who will patronize the town’s businesses. “Since the car show is being held on the same weekend as the Church of Christ craft show and the Yale children’s concert, we anticipate great attendance,” she says.3__DSC1111_Ford51V8Custom266dpi
A mailing to all Norfolk vintage car owners will be sent out in the next few weeks, outlining registration details. For more information, contact Wilbur Couch at 860.480.4981 or willburr@snet.net.
