Letters—October 2015
Thank you
I’m proud to have been employed by the Town of Norfolk for over 12 years as Transfer Station Attendant/Highway Maintainer. I made so many good friends.
My job was more social than work. Being able to answer your questions about recycling, and doing our part to do it properly—thank you for all you did for me by making my job more gratifying.
Thank you for all your well wishes, and mostly for being my friends.

Remembering the Flood of ‘55
The flood on August 19, 1955 took place on me and my twin sister’s tenth birthday. We were heading to Hartford for the day to shop at G. Fox for school clothes, but never made it. This disaster was terrible to see for any kid, or adult.

Invitation to Lunch
My name is Shirley Charlton, the kitchen and dining room manager at Meadowbrook. I have served lunches three days a week for over 12 years. Every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday I am in the kitchen by 9 a.m. making coffee and setting up the tables for lunch for anywhere between eight and 15 people.
I set the tables with lovely colored and decorated placemats, napkins and a centerpiece of flowers or something appropriate to the holiday of the month. The dining room is always a visual delight with an atmosphere of peace, tranquility or holiday fun. The food arrives around 10 a.m., carefully prepared at Cornucopia in Torrington. A sample menu might be sliced roast beef with burgundy gravy, cheese noodle casserole and steamed carrots.
The residents of Meadowbrook enjoy the lunches and would like those in the community to join them for this fun, social time; therefore, Meadowbrook formally extends an invitation to our community to join us for lunch. A suggested donation of four dollars a meal is requested. Please call 860-542-5174 to make a reservation, at least 24 hours in advance.
