New Role For Historic Norfolk Home
Longtime Norfolk resident Peter Vosburgh has launched a Web site aimed at creating a retreat for artists and writers in his home across from the village green. The three story victorian is listed in the National Registry of Historic Houses with a tradition of hospitality as a former inn.
“The main impression you get on entering the house are the shelves full of books in the living room,” says Vosburgh. “They also fill the library and most bedrooms, creating an atmosphere conducive to contemplation, writing, drawing, and painting.”
After a long career with Pan Am and international consulting in Asia and Europe, Vosburgh intends to turn his 13-bedroom dwelling at 21 Village Green Road into a center for seminars and workshops related to all facets of the arts. “I expect to enlist the talents of a number of Norfolk artists and writers who have already offered their support,” he says.
According to the Web site, Norfolkwritersretreat.com, veteran foreign correspondent and author Patrick Smith is prepared to lecture and offer writing seminars there. His latest non-fiction work will be published this spring by Yale University Press.
