Public Hearing on Convenience Store

At its June 14 meeting, the Planning and Zoning Commission accepted a revised site plan and special permit applications from Ryan Craig, the operator of a convenience store and deli proposed for 6 Station Place (the old hardware store building). A public hearing has been set for the P&Z’s next regular meeting, on July 12, at 6:45 p.m., in Town Hall.

Craig has previously run the Berkshire Country Store in West Cornwall, which closed last November. He is currently seeking local loan support to help in building out the new store, which will bear the same name. He expects to carry a range of basic grocery supplies along with various outdoor items, a small selection of books and various locally grown or crafted goods. The deli will supply take-out food and be supported by a customer seating area with Wi-Fi service.

A copy of the application can be viewed in the Town Clerk’s Office, at Town Hall.

Libby Borden and Toby Young, co-chairs of Norfolk’s Economic Development Commission, say that they “hope everyone who has an interest in the future of Norfolk will attend the hearing and make their views known.”
