Ralph Nader Signs New Book at Norfolk Library

Ralph Nader, the controversial consumer advocate, grew up in Winsted.

Consumer advocate Ralph Nader was born in Winsted, Conn., where he developed  the American Museum of Tort Law.

Ralph Nader was at the library on July 23 to give a talk about his new book, “Getting Steamed to Overcome Corporatism: Build It Together to Win,” and to promote The Booming Winsted Book Festival, which will be held on July 30 and 31. The festival, sponsored by Nader, features book signings by Guilford resident Patricia Klindienst (“The Earth Knows My Name: Food, Culture and Sustainability in the Gardens of Ethnic Americans”), Pulitzer Prize winning author Eric Foner (“Gateway to Freedom: Hidden History of the Underground Railroad”), David Bollier, an activist and blogger, (“Think Like a Commoner: A Short Introduction to the Life of the Commons”) and Housatonic Valley Regional High School teacher Peter Vermilyea (“Hidden History of Litchfield County” and “Wicked Litchfield County”). Over 200 books will also be available for sale at discounted prices.
