Obituary—Edward Keith Harvill

 

Edward Keith Harvill died on November 20, 2016 at the age of 67. He had been living at Geer Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Canaan.

Harvill was born August 2, 1949 in New Haven, the son of the late Edward K. and Jeanne (Thompson) Harvill. He spent his childhood in Essex, Conn. and then moved to Indiana where he graduated from Elkhart High School before earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in pharmacy from Purdue University. Harvill served as a pharmacist in a few establishments throughout northwestern Connecticut and was an owner of The Norfolk Pharmacy and Food Market from 1986 to 2004.

At the time of his death, Harvill was a member of the Board of Finance, and he served as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for the Norfolk Lions Club Ambulance (NLCA). In 2008, he won the NLCA EMT of the year award. He was also a member of the Connecticut Pharmacists Association.

Harvill is survived by two sisters, Sandra Chambers of Waller, Tex. and Susan Hixson of Arlington, Va., three nieces and two nephews.

A kind man with a gentle heart, Harvill gave his time freely to his community. He loved animals, reading, boats, Colorado and sports cars. He’ll be dearly missed by his family, friends and the Norfolk community.

A memorial service was held at the Church of Christ Congregational on December 10. Memorial contributions may be made to the Norfolk Lions Club Ambulance, PO Box 399, Norfolk, Conn.
