Library Card Unlocks Digital Trove

At a training session for staff and the general public, Director Luisa Sabin-Kildiss

demonstrated how an ordinary 14-digit Norfolk Library card can be used to borrow

any of several thousand electronic books through the library website. These can be

downloaded, usually for a period of two weeks, onto a variety of devices, including but

not limited to a Kindle, a Nook, a laptop computer, an iPhone or an iPad. For those

who do not own any of the above devices, the library is prepared to lend one of its

new Kindle Paperwhites, preloaded. Instruction is available for the technologically

challenged. One adroit participant left the training session with a newly downloaded

copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone as an audiobook on his iPhone.
