Selectman’s Corner—February 2007
By Sue Dyer
The General Assembly has begun its session in Hartford, and the Litchfield Hills Council of Executive Officials has met with our area representatives, including Sen. Ted Herlihy ® , and Rep. George Wilbur (D), who represent Norfolk, and presented to them our leading concerns. Foremost on the list is to increase funding of Education, Special Education and Town Aid to Roads, and to re-examine the formulas by which the state disburses those funds. By the end of the legislative session it will be interesting to see what Assembly members campaigned for our requests and how successful they were in convincing their colleagues.
I know that winter has been a long time coming, but historically our worst snowfalls have occurred in February and March. So when or if that snow storm is predicted, remember there is a parking ban on all town roads until our Public Works Department has a chance to get everything cleared.
