Something for everyone, from mistaken identity to Irving Berlin
By Lyn Westsmith
The Taconic Learning Center is beginning another year of engaging, enjoyable courses this month, beginning on September 11, with the following nine classes: Marel Rogers presents Mistaken Identity, with examples from the Bible, and Thomas Gruenewald explores the times and work of Irving Berlin on Mondays. Richard Reifsnyder offers The Civil War as a Moral and Theological Crisis, and Larry Rand continues to analyze the current decisions and status of the Roberts Court, both on Tuesdays. On Wednesday mornings there is the ever favorite Play Reading with Rosemary Farnsworth, and Jerry Jamin talking on money and the evolution of currency. On Wednesday afternoons, Dr. Lynn Welchel shares his research on medical advances since 2000 in What’s Up, Doc? On Thursday mornings, Richard Collins, Tracy Atwood and Peter Vermilyea take us through major decisions made by the Foreign Policy Association’s during 2017; and on Friday mornings, Larry Rand presents a documentary series, Marginalized Groups in the United States.
Classes are held at Noble Horizons in Salisbury and Geer Village in Canaan once a week. Each session is two hours (10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m.), with a break for talk and refreshments. Classes continue for six to 10 weeks.
