Early Bird Gets Sunflower Seed
Norfolk Farmers Market Starts Season
The growing season is just starting in the Northeast Corner, and the Norfolk Farmers’ Market is inviting all comers to get with the program. On Saturday morning, the familiar awnings will be pitched on the Town Hall lawn, acoustic guitarist Bill Benson will be serenading the crowd, and many familiar vendors from Bardan Farms to Zinke’s will be selling homegrown produce and home-made artifacts. And everyone will be encouraged to take home a special sunflower seed and plant it. At the close of the growing season, on August 24, the market will hold an agricultural fair and the owner of the best sunflower (grown from Farmers Market seed) will take home a prize.
The opening Farmers Market will be held rain or shine on Saturday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.at 19 Maple Avenue in Norfolk, Conn.
