“Bella,” Based on “Our Town,” Comes to Life at the Library

The annual play performed by the women of the Isabella Eldridge Club at the library had the look of a costume party.  Jack O’Malley’s deftly written  script of “Bella” used Thorton Wilder’s “Our Town” as a template to reflect on life in Norfolk in the late 1800’s. Directed by Ann Havemeyer, the cast and extras of “Bella” included all members of the club and many of their children. An overflow audience responded with a standing ovation.

Hi Lloyd ~ The photos of Louis Davis & Chris Hanley, Cay Fields & Phyllis Diggle, are great and the credit for “Bella” should go to the collaboration of Jack O’Malley, Author; and, Ann Havemeyer, Director.

Bella is an adaptation of Our Town by Jack & Thornton Wilder and is dedicated to The Isabella Players and life in the small town of Norfolk. The cast and extras playinf both historic characters and themselves are all members of the Isabella Eldridge Club and/or their extended families. The editing and direction must be credited to Ann Havemeyer who has worked endless hours over the past months to direct this wonderful three scene play. Our special thanks to Norfolk Library for hosting the play and their staff for accommodating all of our grateful
