NVFD to Sell T-shirts to Support Scholarship Fund
Starting in the fall of 2013, the Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department has designed and sold limited edition T-shirts to recognize and support the national campaign for breast cancer awareness in October each year. All proceeds of the sale of the colorful shirts are turned over to the Norfolk Children’s Foundation to support the Laverne Barbagallo Camp Scholarship. The mother of NVFD member Jon Barbagallo, Laverne passed away in 2004 after battling breast cancer. To recognize her work with the Norfolk Children’s Foundation, the scholarship was designed to support local Norfolk children who want to go to summer camp. Since the inception of the sales, the NVFD has donated $2,860 to this worthy cause.
The shirts are specially designed each year under the leadership of NVFD President Paul Padua and sold by department members as well as through the support of local businesses like the National Iron Bank, the Berkshire Country Store and the Norfolk Artisans Guild.
Look for the 2018 edition T-shirt, which should be on sale by early October.
