Briefly…
New Fire Truck on its Way
After having to cancel one contract because the company went into bankruptcy, the Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department (NCFD) has just signed a contract with a different company, and is now on target to take possession of a shiny new pumper truck next summer. The truck will use compressed foam technology to put out fires, saving water. Congratulations also to NVFD’s Engine 90 Crew for winning the 2008 state championship for Best Commercial Pumper, two years in a row.
Split in the works
An ordinance to separate the Conservation and Inland/Wetland Agency is currently under consideration.
Housing Study Underway
Norfolk town has signed an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Litchfield Hills Council of Elected Officials, to develop An Incentive Housing Study for the town.
Sprinkle on some Magic Salt
Snow clearance may be more efficient this year. The selectmen recently agreed to the use of Magic Salt, which is a regular rock salt that has been treated with a liquid de-icing agent. Easily applied to bulk rock salt stockpiles, Magic Salt is supposed to cut down on both rock salt and sand (so hopefully less cleanup in spring) and is said to be friendly to the environment.
A Cold Run
Weather permitting, the Tenth Annual 10-Mile Run will take place on Saturday, December 20 at 11 a.m.
