Conservation Commission to Replace Shrubs at Town Hall
In one of its first acts, the newly formed Conservation Commission will remove alien invasive species from the front of Town Hall and replace them with non-invasive natives. Their goal is to complete the transformation in one day, Saturday May 2. Slated for removal and disposal are two Japanese barberries and two Euonymus. The new shrubs are one shadbush (Amelianchior Canadensis) and two viburnums (Viburnum trilobum ‘Wentworth’) bought at the Northwest Conservation District’s plant sale on April 25. All the shrubs are known for their fall foliage. The project will be overseen by Commission member Nash Pradhan of Ginger Creek Nursery. The Commission is also looking into putting in native groundcovers, including bearberry and asters.
