World Peace Flag Ceremony

On Sunday, June 7 at 10 a.m. the Church of Christ, Norfolk, wiith guidance from “The World Peace Sanctuary” in Amenia, New York will present an “International Peace Flag Ceremony.” Through prayer, a musical offering by Lizzie West & Baba Buffalo, and a very special flag ceremony, participants will unite together to send blessings of peace to countries throughout the world. A potluck picnic and ballgame will follow.  All are welcome.  This will be a special day to be shared with family and friends. Call Tina Wignall with questions at 542-5721 or 542-5238.

Taylor Mali at NCCC June 6

Taylor Mali will present “No Holds Bard,” his unique blend of poetry, comedy, teaching and storytelling, at the Founders Auditorium, Northwestern Connecticut Community College, Winsted, on June 6 at 7 p.m., in a performance to benefit the Winchester Land Trust.  Tickets are $35 for premium seats, $20 general admission, and $10 for balcony seating.  Call Shelley Harms at 542-1657 or go to Friends of Main Street in Winsted to buy advance tickets. Tickets may also be purchased at the door.  Dessert will be served after the show.  The Winchester Land Trust is working to preserve a 36-acre farm on Winchester Lake.

Library Associates’ Bulb Sale

Plan now for many years of beauty & serenity. The library associates’ yearly bulb sale gets started in July.  Many quality bulbs will be available for sale, all to benefit our library.  Stay tuned for more information or visit www.norfolklibrary.org in early July to be dazzled by this year’s flower choices.

Farmer’s Market Time

Great food?  Check.  Healthy eating?  Check.  Unique crafts?  Check.  Fun for the whole family?  Check.  All this and seeing familiar friends, and making new ones, too.  The Norfolk Farmer’s Market begins the season on June 6, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  This year the market will be open every Saturday through October 31, rain or shine. Come and enjoy!

Welcome to Father Walter Quinn

A welcoming ceremony will be held for Father Walter Quinn, O.S.A. of Priests for Life on Thursday, June 11, at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church in Canaan. Father Quinn will speak on “The Reality of the Real Presence in the Eucharist.” He will also be giving the homily on life issues at the following Masses: Saturday, June 13 at St. Joseph’s in Canaan 4 p.m., Saturday, June 13 at Immaculate Conception in Norfolk at 6 p.m., Sunday, June 14 at St. Joseph’s in Canaan 8:30 a.m., and on Sunday, June 14 at Immaculate Conception in Norfolk at 11 a.m.
