Norfolk Open Market on the Village Green

On Saturday, August 29 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.the first Norfolk Open Market will be held on Village Green. The market is open to anyone who wants to reserve a space to sell antiques, crafts, tag sale items or other goods. This should be a fun, festive day in Norfolk food vendors and live music and will be held rain or shine. All rental proceeds will benefit the Church of Christ Congregational. Spaces are 10 feet by 10 feet and are available for $30 each. Double spaces of 10 feet by 20 feet are offered for $45. Registration forms are available at the church office ,and must be received by August 15. Set up time will be from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. on the day of the market. On Sunday, July 12, join the Battell Arts Foundation for a celebration commemorating Ellen Battell Stoeckel on the 70th anniversary of her death Enjoy an afternoon of free events. There will be two concerts, one for children and one for everyone. Norfolk Fellows will perform a children’s concert in the Music Shed from 1 to 1:45 p.m. where student groups will perform for and interact with the children. An ice cream social and games for kids will take place behind Whitehouse. From 2 to 3:30 p.m..enjoy badminton, wiffle ball, jarts, face painting, jump rope and more at the Art Barn. The day will end with a performance by the U.S. Coast Guard Chamber Ensemble in the Music Shed at 4 p.m. Norfolk Recreation Committee Swim Lessons

Swim lessons, sponsored by the Norfolk Recreation Committee, will begin on July 13 and run until Aug. 6. Registrations will be held on July 13 at Tobey Pond. The fee for this program is $20 for the first child and $15 for each additional child.s Lessons will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Norfolk Library Summer Reading Program

Creative Play and Original Work – A series of workshops on Mondays,. July 6, from 4:30 to 6 p.m.  Mosaic Design with Miss DeVere for ages nine and up on July 13, 6 to 8 p.m.  Lost Art of Puppet Making for ages seven and up, limited to 18 children. Supplies are included. July 20, 5 to 7 p.m. From Page to Stage:  Ages six and up and limited to 15 participants. A chance to act with Laurie Ellington from Green House Studio.  A light supper will be provided.   Families are invited back for the 15 minute show at 7 p.m. July 27, 4 to 6 p.m. Play with Tie Dye!. Melissa Robinson will help students craft something colorful.  Bring something white and cotton to dye. August 3, 4 to 5:30 p.m.  Riddle Me This, with Robin Yuran. Students will learn about the fascinating and accessible history of riddles and learn to make their own.  Ages ten and up are welcome. August 10, 6-7:30 p.m. Express Yourself, a talent show for one and all.  Come claim your 15 minutes of fame. Bring a picnic dinner. Cake will be served. The Children’s Room will sponsor an art contest and postcards will be made with the art of the four winners. For an application and guidelines, please stop at the library’s circulation desk. Sap Bucket Sellabration

The Norfolk Library is hosting a silent auction featuring sap buckets painted by local artists on Friday, August 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. Wine and cheese will be served, and attendance is free. Proceeds will benefit the Norfolk Library Associates. Buckets will be on display in the library during the month of August. For more information, visit www.norfolklibrary.org.
