Keeping her hat in the ring
Sue Dyer seeking re-election as First Selectman
By Barbara Perkins
Town elections are upon us and Democratic Incumbent Sue Dyer is looking to
maintain her position as Norfolk’s First Selectman.
A town resident for close to 40 years, Dyer first sought office ten years ago and
then only after her predecessor decided to forgo another term and retire. “When
Arthur (Rosenblatt) opted not to run, I saw it as an opportunity to do something
else, something more for our town.” She shared how “public service” and “giving
back” were very important concepts instilled in her throughout her formative years.
Prior to public office, Dyer was Vice President and Manager of the Norfolk Branch
of the National Iron Bank which she believes played an essential part in preparing
her for the job as First Selectman. She also knows that her hands on experience
with the budget, through her position on the Town Finance Committee, was
integral to her being able “hit the ground running.”
In addition to serving the town as First Selectman, Dyer sits on boards and
committees throughout the Northwest Corner, Litchfield County and the state. She
is also involved with the Lions Club and the Curling Club.
