Norfolk is one of 44 towns in Connecticut to receive federal stimulus money this year
through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Norfolk’s $9,100 will go
toward the purchase of a hand held laser speed gun, a mountain bike for state police,
computer equipment and new traffic safety signs. These grants were earmarked for crime
prevention and public safety.
Pilbin Application Denied
At a special meeting on October 13, Norfolk’s Planning and Zoning Commission denied
Jennifer Pilbin’s application to operate a quarry at 119 Winchester Road.
Sewage Dumping in Local Woods
Torrant Certified Sewer Service is currently under investigation by the Department of
Environmental Protection (DEP) for unlawful discharging of raw sewage. An unnamed
driver was spotted by a DEP environmental police officer leaking material from a Torrant
truck in the woods off of East Street North last month.
