Yale Student Concert on Village Green
Please come to a free concert given by the Yale music students on the village green on Sunday, July 15 at 2 p.m. Bring your own blanket or chairs and a picnic to enjoy while listening to these talented young artists. Rain location: Battell House.
Jay Ungar and Molly Mason in Concert
On Saturday, July 28, at 7 p.m., the Colebrook Historical Society will sponsor a very special event – Jay Ungar and Molly Mason presenting an evening of music and storytelling, with Jay on the fiddle and Molly on piano and guitar. The concert will be held at the Colebrook Meeting House/Congregational Church, located at the intersection of Routes 183 & 182A in the center of Colebrook. Please join us for these fun and informative events on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. July 2 – Puppet Show with Sarah Nolen: “The Fairy Tailor.” Magical beings are known for their great sense of fashion, but who stitches together all of their stories? Meet the Fairy Tailor, hard at work in her enchanted shop. July 9 – DJ Red’s Supreme Dance Workshop. Easy-to-follow party dance moves led by DJ Red. July 16 – Ashletrix & The Wizards. Calling all Harry Potter fans. Come hear a wizard rock band create a magical performance. July 23 – Grunts, Calls & Bleats: The Music of Animals. The Stamford Nature Center will tell you why animals make the sounds they do. July 30 – Out of Mount Rushmore’s Shadow. Meet the grandson of the chief carver of Mount Rushmore and hear his story.
Author Talks at the Norfolk Library: Caitlin Macy and Andrea Barnet
On Friday, July 20, at 10 a.m., enjoy coffee, tea, and scones while talking with Caitlin Macy about her new novel “Mrs.” This is the first in the library’s series of upcoming programs on the creative process, and Caitlin will discuss how she wrote the novel set in the well-heeled milieu of New York’s Upper East Side. A resident of New York and Norfolk, Macy is also the author of The Fundamentals of Play (2000) and Spoiled (2009).
On Friday, July 27, at 10 a.m., Andrea Barnet will discuss her book Visionary Women (2018). It is the story of four influential women—Jane Jacobs, Rachel Carson, Jane Goodall, and Alice Waters—who spearheaded the modern progressive movement. Linked not by friendship or field, but by their choice to break with convention, these women showed what one person speaking truth to power can do and profoundly shaped the world we live in today.

An Extraordinary Legacy: The Photographs of Marie H. Kendall
Come see the show everyone is talking about… at the Norfolk Historical Society & Museum. Open Saturday and Sundays in July from 1 to 4 p.m. The exhibition features dozens of original Marie Kendall photographs and new prints made from the Museum’s recently digitized glass plate negative collection. Museum director, Barry Webber, will host an afternoon of gallery talks on Saturday July 13.
