Remembering Duncan Denny
Lifetime Norfolk resident Duncan Denny passed away at his home on June 19, 2018. He was born June 20, 1927, in New Rochelle, N.Y., to Dorothy Duncan and Cary Freeman Denny.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ayreslea Rowland Denny; children Bea Tirrell (Charlie), Deirdre Denny, and Rowland Denny (Robin); and grandchildren Carrere, Andrea, Henry (Robin E.), Amelia, and Reg.
A longtime mathematics educator and soccer coach, Duncan retired from Housatonic Valley Regional High School in 1989. He served as a radar technician in the Azores in World War II. He was raised as a Mason in Western Star Lodge, Norfolk, and was a current member of St. Andrew’s, Winsted.
Duncan served his community as an assistant scoutmaster, a board member of the Norfolk Historical Society, and a participant in the annual Teens Against Polio talent show. He was a parishioner of Trinity Church, Torrington, and Church of the Transfiguration, Norfolk, where a memorial service will be held July 7 at 11 a.m. Kenny Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
