River Place Bridge to Be Replaced

First Selectman Matthew Riiska announced that the Town of Norfolk is contemplating a project to replace the River Place Bridge over the Blackberry River.

The bridge replacement project would receive federal funds under the Federal Local Bridge Program, which is administered by the Connecticut Department of Transportation. These funds would cover 80 percent of the cost. The remaining 20 percent would be paid for by the town.

The design phase is expected to begin in the fall of 2018, with construction likely in 2020 or 2021.

Anyone with concerns is encouraged to contact the selectmen’s office early in the planning process. Persons wanting additional information should also contact Matt Riiska, Town of Norfolk, at 860-542-5829.
