Annual Homemade Pie Sale

Church of Christ, Norfolk, will hold its annual homemade pie sale on Saturday, August 4, at the Norfolk Farmers Market. This is your chance to purchase delicious sweet and savory pies from the kitchens of some of the best home bakers in northwest Connecticut. The sale runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., but pies sell quickly. Shop early!

Annual Ted Byers Memorial Lecture

“Farm to Table” with Barry Webber

On Friday, Aug. 10, at 7 p.m., the Colebrook Historical Society will present a talk by Barry Webber, “Farm to Table: A Look Back 100 Years,” about the role of food production in winning World War I, and Northwest Connecticut’s part in the war effort. Norfolk Library: Monkey and Dino’s Funky Puppet Show

On Friday, Aug. 3, at 6:30 p.m., UConn Puppet Arts alumnus John Cody will present Monkey, Dino and their many wacky friends in a series of songs and sketches. Prizes will be given for the “Color Your Crystal” summer reading challenge, and cake will be served!

Norfolk Library: Magnificent Microscopes

On Saturday, Aug. 4, at 10:30 a.m., Rich Kessin offers visitors the chance to look at slides through 19th- and 20th-century microscopes provided by the Norfolk Historical Museum and Columbia University. Rich will also demonstrate the use of smartphone microscopes, available at the library circulation desk.

Saturday, Aug. 4, at 3:00 p.m. Mike Cobb and Matt Statler play cosmic American music in the style of Gram Parsons and The Byrds, with a focus on strong storytelling and vocal harmonies.

#TheCabins Returns to Norfolk This September

The creative knowledge exchange program, The Cabins, founded by local novelist, Courtney Maum, returns to Norfolk this September with nine international participants who will be teaching classes to each other in their respective disciplines from Sept. 13 to 17 in a camp on Tobey Pond.
