Greener Gardening: Recycling Plastic Pots
We love our gardens, can’t resist the delphiniums, cone flowers or pansies we plant to brighten our front doors and yards. But all those plastic pots and trays, millions of them every year in circulation! The Norfolk transfer station will not take them, even though most are marked as recyclable, because dirt mucks up the recycling machines. The good news is that many garden stores can and will reuse and/or recycle them. Freund’s Farm Market, the Salisbury Garden Center, Ward’s Nursery in Great Barrington and Home Depot in Torrington all do. Please clean pots and trays as best you can before dropping them off.
