Foxtail Café in Winsted Closes Unexpectedly
Foxtail Fine Catering and Café, which opened only a year and a half ago in the old Cackleberries site on Main Street in Winsted, has closed its doors for good. On Oct. 7, only hours after serving brunch, owners Jason Plourde and Armand Lattizori posted a notice on Facebook announcing that “it is with deep sadness that we have to say farewell to Foxtail. . . . And while we hate to say good-bye, life goes on. Armand will be following his dream out West, and big things are coming soon for Chef Jay and the other wonderful members of the Foxtail crew. Stay tuned.”
This announcement was followed a few days later by another post reporting that Plourde, who is an established chef in the restaurant business, would be taking over as the new executive chef at Parrott Delaney Tavern in New Hartford, starting on Oct. 10.
In their short time in operation, Foxtail won a devoted fan base in the area, as witnessed by their five-star rating on Yelp, and the many messages of sadness and support posted in response to the Facebook announcement.
